i used to think that a foot of parchment was a lot and feel bad when harry potter characters were assigned to write that much
but then i realized the paper i write on is 8.5 by 11 inches.
so a foot of parchment is the equivalent of like, not even a page and a half of paper.

So wait. I learned how to write essays in high school. And do maths. And important historically things. And cultural studies. But, there wasnt ANY classes that covered those things in Hogwarts.
Now really. Muggle culture and history was Muggle Studies. History of Magic is self-explanitory. Maths, well there is magic for forget maths.
But. How did they learn to grammar? And write like high school kids. I didnt know that shit when I was 12.
I can’t imagine McGonagal being like, “your report was ok, you pass but you didnt write your conclusion properly DO IT AGAIN”
